Frequently asked questions
What should students wear?
Students should wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes for safety in the kitchen environment. Long hair must be tied back.
What does COOKSMART provide?
We provide all necessary ingredients, cooking equipment, activity materials, and certified instructors to lead the session. You just need to provide the space, access to handwashing, and the students!
How early should students arrive?
Students should be ready in the designated workspace at the scheduled start time of the program. Our team arrives early to handle all setup.
Can students with allergies participate?
Absolutely. We operate strictly nut-free and are highly experienced in accommodating allergies. Please ensure all allergy information is submitted well in advance so we can adjust ingredients.
What if our student numbers change?
Please update us with final student numbers as soon as possible before the program date so we can ensure we have enough supplies and equipment for everyone to participate fully.
Can a student participate if they have dietary restrictions?
Yes. Our recipes are typically vegetarian and can often be adjusted for vegan, gluten-free, or halal requirements if we are notified ahead of time.
What supervision is required from the school?
While our instructors lead the cooking and activities, a teacher or school contact must be present and available in the room throughout the entire program for overall classroom management.
What happens if we need to reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, please contact us immediately. We will do our best to find an alternative date, subject to our cancellation and rescheduling policies outlined in your booking agreement.
Who should we contact with questions?
You can email our team at info@cooksmart.ca or reply directly to your booking confirmation email with any specific questions about your upcoming program.
Can we receive additional classroom resources?
Yes! Check the "Teacher Resources" section above for optional downloads. For even more ongoing curriculum-aligned content, ask us about the COOKSMART Club.
Have a question before your program?
