Students Learn Best By Doing

Today’s students are increasingly disconnected from how food is grown, where ingredients come from, and how natural systems operate. Hands-on sustainability education bridges that gap.

Environmental Awareness

Students build a tangible understanding of local food systems, composting, and waste reduction.

Healthy Habits

Connecting with ingredients from soil to plate dramatically increases a student's willingness to try new foods.

Real Engagement

Experiential, station-based learning gets students out of their seats, developing responsibility and teamwork.

Supporting Real-World Sustainability Goals

Programs engineered to align with institutional priorities.

Food Literacy

Hands-on cooking and ingredient exploration that helps students fundamentally understand healthy eating, preparation, and complex food systems.

Gardening & Growing

Interactive planting and gardening experiences that physically connect students to sustainability, soil health, and local agriculture.

Composting & Waste Reduction

Programs designed to teach environmental stewardship, the lifecycle of food, and practical waste reduction habits they can use immediately.

Experiential Learning

Station-based and hands-on learning experiences that drastically increase student participation, curiosity, and knowledge retention.

Purpose-Driven Education

Designed To Support School Sustainability Goals

COOKSMART programs are designed to complement and directly support school sustainability and environmental education initiatives, including EcoSchools-focused learning goals and experiential activities.

Our programs can help schools reinforce themes actively connected to environmental stewardship, waste reduction, composting, local food systems, healthy schools, and outdoor experiential learning.

COOKSMART is an independent educational provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by EcoSchools Canada. We exist to provide the hands-on experiential programming that helps schools achieve their independent sustainability goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sprout Circus aligned with the Ontario Curriculum?

Yes. The learning stations directly support outcomes in Health & Physical Education, Science & Technology, Social Studies, and cross-curricular Math.

What space is required for a Sprout Circus activation?

We need a large open space such as a gymnasium, cafeteria, or outdoor field. We bring all the necessary tables, stations, and equipment to transform the space.

How do you handle severe allergies in a whole-school event?

Our mobile kitchens are strictly nut-free. We coordinate with school administration beforehand to safely accommodate specific student IEPs and severe dietary restrictions.

Do teachers need to prep or facilitate the stations?

No. COOKSMART provides certified facilitators for every station. Teachers simply supervise their class as they actively rotate through the experience.

Are you an approved vendor for school boards?

Yes, we regularly partner with major boards across the GTA (Peel, TDSB, Halton Catholic). We carry $5M Commercial General Liability insurance, and all of our instructors maintain current Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC).
