Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program

Real leadership. Real kitchen skills. For ages 13+

Grow from helper to leader with hands-on coaching in cooking, safety, and youth mentorship. LITs support stations, guide small groups, and build confidence communicating with kids and families all in a friendly, nut-aware environment aligned with COOKSMART’s food-literacy vision.

Requirements

  • Who: Youth ages 13–16 (13+ recommended). Responsible, enthusiastic students who enjoy working with kids, cooking, and having fun

  • When: June 30 – Aug 30 (commit to 2 weeks)

  • Where: West Oakville, Mississauga—Clarkson, Port Credit

  • Capacity: Only 2 LITs per location, per week

  • What you’ll do: Support station setup, model safe skills, coach small groups, assist with cleanup & class flow

  • What you’ll learn: Leadership, communication, time management, kitchen/food safety, problem-solving

  • Commitment: 2 weeks between June 30 and Aug 30

  • Readiness to lead: Willing to take responsibility, follow instructions, and grow into a COOKSMART leader
