Kid Favourite: Pizza Rolls!

PIZZA ROLLS

Tasty treats for a snack or add soup or salad to make it a meal! 

1)   Spread Sauce on a whole-wheat tortilla such as:

·        Red Sauce:  Tomato sauce, Pureed or Crushed tomatoes  

·        Green Sauce: Pesto

2) Sprinkle on seasonings such as salt, pepper, oregano, basil or chili flakes.

3)   Choose 3 colours of Veggie Toppings:

·        Slices of sweet peppers - green, red, orange or yellow

·        Zucchini or mushroom

·        Olive slices – black or green

·        Small Pineapple chunks

·        Small pieces of Onion - green, red or yellow onions

·        Small slices of Tomatoes

Place the veggies evenly in middle in a rectangular shape.

3)   Grate or finely cut up the cheese. Sprinkle cheese all over the veggies

4)   Roll up from edge closest to you into tube shape.  Wrap in paper towel.

5)   Heat in microwave for 30 seconds to melt cheese. Carefully remove and let rest for 1 minute. 

Alternatively, the pizza roll can be carefully placed on a hot fry pan or griddle, open side down for 2-3 minutes, then turned and the other side heated for 2-3 minutes.

6) Slice in half on diagonal and put on plate. 

Optional:   Add thin slices of your favourite protein:  I like ham, chicken, or tempeh (soybean cake)
