Taking Precautions

Hi COOKSMART Families,

As we are all aware, the risk of spreading the COVID-19 is a vital issue.

We will be keeping a close eye on what Public Health recommendations are and will be taking the following precautions:

  • Parents avoid sending children who have coughs or fevers to camp.  If someone in your house is at high risk with these symptoms, please don't send your child to camp but notify me immediately.

  • Children will wash their hands upon arrival, as well as before starting to cook or handle food.

  • Children will be encouraged to avoid touching their face.  Please send a hat or hair ties to keep hair away from their face, to avoid unnecessary touching.

  • All dishes will be sanitized in dishwasher prior start of camp, and at the end of each day.  We always use a disinfectant rinse during the normal program when washing up.

  • All counters and tablecloths will be disinfected in the morning and after the program.

  • Aprons will be washed every evening with dishcloths.

  • When possible, children will work beside each other, as opposed to directly adjacent to reduce contact.

  • As much as possible, children will be making their own plate of food instead of sharing from a common plate.

  • All sneezes or coughs should be directed into disposable tissue or shoulder (vampire style). Hands will be washed again.

  • Ensure kids wash hands well before cooking and eating, after using the washroom.

  • Pick up will be done at the entrance to the church, so parents don't have to come inside.

We will do our best to create a safe environment for your child, and we have a great program planned for them.  Should the conditions change in the next few days,  we will keep you informed.

Thanks and keep cooking!

Kathy
